The first steps for an improvement project have been
undertaken for the development of Whitebirch Village and Creek Circle. Whitebirch Village is proposed as a
development for “Active Adults” to be located abutting Whitebirch Drive and the
Whitebirch Golf Course. The first phase
of the development will include 18 units in twin homes.
This project was petitioned for by Whitebirch, Inc. and a
couple of abutting property owners.
Working together in a project of this size brings some economy of scale
to the project. The approach used also
recognizes the economy generated by sharing the costs. Without these benefits the cost of
improvement would be greater making it difficult to manage.
Paving of a portion of Whitebirch Drive and Creek Circle is part
of the proposed project. It is
anticipated that pavement will be continued from the area where pavement stops
near Antlers restaurant to a point approximately half way between Creek Circle
and Papago Circle on Whitebirch Drive.
Sanitary Sewer is anticipated along the same stretch of the roadway
that will be paved. It will also extend across
the fairway of the golf course to a lift station along Co. Rd. 11. This will provide for gravity sewer for the
entire project.
What this first step entails is the ordering of a
feasibility study concerning the project as outlined and the associated
costs. The costs would be listed by type
of improvement and the projected totals would be used to determine a proposed
assessment for the project. It is
anticipated that an open house would be held in which the public is invited to
attend to better understand the proposed improvements. The next step in the process is a public
hearing. Affected property owners are
invited to hear about the project. At
the hearing those interested are invited to present their view of the
improvement to the city council. Considering the views of the property owners
will determine how the project will proceed.
